"Monty" McLaughlin
Monty has
the longest winless streak on Tour. The mantle of "Best
Player Never To Win" haunts this fiery Irishman
from Beantown. In the past he would lose it as the tourney
started by missing his 1st tee time or losing a club.
However, at Pinehurst Monty was challenging the ultimate
champ & fellow Irishman Mudrock until moving day,
when he wilted under the tremendous pressure of Course
#2. It had been awhile since he challenged, so this
was seen as a positive sign for San Diego.
His post Greenjacket
performance peaked with a stunning victory at The
Vesper Invitational in August. In that
victory Monty flashed his brilliance with the flat stick
by draining everything in sight. However, some critics
have likened that victory to Chris DiMarco's win at
the 84 Lumber Classic. Nice
win, but show us a green blazer & a picture with
Hootie. Regardless, based on this elevation in his game,
early oddmakers are only giving this horse a paltry
3:1 payout.
